The title itself uses the word ‘tranquility’, which by definition means to be in a state of tranquil or calm. Artistically, this view makes all the more sense. TBHAC may not have the same gutsy guitar filled tracks and catchy hooks that suck you in, but as a body of work, and dare I say it, art, I believe it is a meticulously and carefully planned out record.Ī general review some have held of the new record is that it is ‘boring’ and that the hook-less tracks are sleep inducing. It’s no lie, I am a biased fan of their fifth album ‘AM’ the heavy guitar hooks, the brooding lyrics and Alex Turner’s sultry voice was without a doubt my sexual awakening to the genre of indie-rock.
Some are hailing the new record, ‘Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino’ (TBHAC), to be the rebirth of a new David Bowie era, whilst others have claimed it to be the ‘worst album of 2018’. The highly anticipated sixth album from English-rockers, the Arctic Monkeys, has caused a stir of opinions and emotions.
